Luxaire® "Split System" Air Conditioners

Luxaire® performance is yours all summer long with our split system air conditioner design. This design has two parts: an indoor unit, such as a furnace or air handler, and an outdoor unit. The outdoor unit works by cooling a refrigerant, which in turn cools air in the indoor unit for circulation through your home. Indoor and outdoor units are designed to work together. When the air conditioner is properly matched with a furnace or air handler, you get maximum efficiency and longer system life.

Here's what makes it work:
A "split system" central air conditioner includes a compressor, fan, condenser coil, evaporator coil and refrigerant. The system removes heat from indoor air and transfers it outside, allowing the indoor air to be circulated and cooled (which is measured by SEER, Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). A central air conditioning system uses electricity as its power source.

The basic components of an air conditioning system are:

  • A condensing unit (the outdoor section) and the evaporating coil
  • A matching indoor air handler or gas (natural or propane) furnace with coil
  • Ductwork to transfer the cooled air throughout the home

Space Pak® Air Handlers

SpacePak makes it possible to install central heating and cooling in any home or small business; regardless of structure design, age, size or type of construction. SpacePak is an air distribution system which uses a principle known as aspiration - as the air stream enters the room, it creates a gentle mixing of air in the room to provide thorough, comfortable draft-free air circulation. SpacePak eliminates stratification with a minimum floor-to-ceiling temperature difference.

The average duct system loses between 25% and 40% of the energy generated by the air handler, an issue caused by leaks in the system or because of the material used. More energy is then necessary to achieve the desired temperatures.

The same flaws can also contribute to poor indoor air quality, drawing in harmful particles or fostering mold growth that can be delivered throughout the home. SmartPak System Duct is specially designed to prevent the loss of energy, reducing overall energy consumption, and also to deliver clean, healthy air throughout the home. These special seals are also simple to install, reducing the contractors time on the job.
